The oldest Bulgarian winter resort in history from 1986 is Borovets. Borovets ski resort today is the largest and the most modern ski area in Bulgaria. At a height of 1390 m  Borovets can be found on the northern slopes of Mousala ridge in the Sofia Provence, with slopes reaching to a height of 2600m.

Winters here can be mild with lots of the white stuff. Average temperatures during the coldest months reach around 4.8ºC. Snow here can be found from mid December to April.

Borovets is attracting not only locals from Bulgaria but skiers from other countries. Here you will find 45 kilometers of pistes to suit all skiers and snowboarders. These slopes are grouped in 3 different regions, Stinqkovo – Martinovi Baraki, Markudjik and Qstebec. Some of the best slopes can be found at Qstebec. The World cup has been hosted here twice.

Borovets is a fantastic resort competing with many well known ski areas , sports during the winter here are : skiing, night- skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon, ski-doo, all within the resort.
There are available ski runs for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multilingual signs. Pistes are bashed and maintained to the high standard.

Borovets is a modern ski resort with a great range of hotels, restaurants and shops. Easily accessible from the capital Sofia which is just 72 km away. Borovets really come to life during the winter, expect some big things from this resort.
